About Central UMC …

Central United Methodist Church is a big building with an even bigger heart. Don’t let the stone exterior, taking up half a downtown block, fool you. When you walk through any door you will find warm and welcoming people who love God, their neighbors and each other.

Locally, the church is involved in Muskegon Methodist Ministries. The Methodist congregations collaborate on things like the monthly Men’s Prayer Breakfast, an annual Ash Wednesday worship service and support of community ministries like Mission for Area People and Pathfinders. We work with other faiths on projects like Martin Luther King, Jr. remembrance and CROP Walk.

Regionally, we are part of the Grand Rapids District, led by Superintendent Bill Haggard. And every United Methodist church in Michigan is led by Bishop Deborah Lieder Kiesey, who came to Michigan from the Dakotas in 2012. She says, “There is incredible beauty here in Michigan. From the Upper Peninsula, to the shorelines of the Great Lakes, to the open fields, to the fascinating towns, villages, and cities – there is such beauty everywhere I look. But the true beauty I have found has been in the people.”

Yes. When you become part of a United Methodist Church, you become part of something big. Over 12 million members worldwide. Over 42,000 churches around the world. Open Hearts. Open Minds. Open Doors. That’s our motto.

Are you looking for answers to some of life’s huge questions? Are you tired of feeling like it’s you against the world?  We invite you to walk through the doors of Muskegon Central UMC. Find friends. Find faith. Find God.
